Why antiques can be haunted | Lifestyle.INQ

(Part III)

Collecting antiques or bringing them inside your house can be dangerous if you do not know their origin or history.

Why? Because, as I pointed out in the first part of this article, objects can absorb the energy of its owner or the one who has held it. Religious statues, medallions can absorb the imprint of rituals or intentions performed or directed toward it.

And such imprints cannot easily be erased by washing the object with water or placing it under the sun, because the information or energy absorbed by it are not physical but etheric or psychic in nature.

Here are a few examples.

During the martial law years, I got a call from a young bold star—Anna (not her real name). She said she was bothered by strange things happening to her in her apartment.

“I would wake up in the morning and find my blouse unbuttoned and have hematoma marks in many parts of my body. I sleep alone in my room and I do not remember anybody touching me or opening my clothes,” related Anna.

“I also experienced difficulty sleeping in my room, no matter how tired I was from shooting. I also noticed that whenever I brought a male friend to my room, we would quarrel and separate.”

I asked Anna if there was any spirit manifestation or presence she or anybody else in her household had experienced, and she replied there was none.

When I asked her how long she had been experiencing those things or when it began, she said, “About a year ago.” So I asked her if there was any place she visited a year ago for the first time, or anything she brought into the house.

She said she had bought a 100-year-old dresser and bed from an antique dealer. She asked me if I could visit her place and take a look.

When I went inside her room, I saw at once the dresser she was referring to, which really looked very old, with its mirror faded at the edges. As I sat on its stool, something or somebody pushed me and I almost hit the wall.

It became obvious to me that whoever owned that dresser didn’t want anybody else to use it. I told Anna to get rid of it, or at least place it outside her house. She felt bad because she said it was expensive and she liked it. I told her it was her decision.

Strange noises

Before I left, I talked to the maid who slept under the stairs leading to Anna’s room on the upper floor of the apartment. She told me that when Anna was not at home, she would hear footsteps and strange noises coming from the room, which was locked. Anna said this was the first time she heard there were manifestations in her house.

I told her it’s quite common that the master of the house or the president of a company is the last to know when strange incidents happen, because employees are afraid to report such things for fear no one would believe them.

A week or two later, I got another call from Anna, this time she was thanking me. She said she moved the dresser out of her room and placed it outside, and from that time on she could sleep very well, and no more strange things were experienced by anybody.

I know of several cases where, after someone brought an antique to their house, they experienced a deterioration of their health and business and disharmony developed in the household.

This case involved a doll or statue of a Japanese samurai warrior which was bought in Japan by a Filipino family. The doll looked very authentic in every detail. It was placed on the glass shelf in the living room.

Several times, the doll would be found on the floor in the morning, in front of the shelf. Nobody  had moved or transferred the doll.

The ensuing events were eerie. Their three fierce German police dogs were found beheaded, one after another. They did not think there was any connection between the samurai doll and the killing of the dogs, until the third dog was found beheaded with one strike of a very sharp bolo or knife.

They brought the doll to a Jesuit at the Ateneo, and were told to burn it. After that, there were no more strange manifestations in the house.

No one could explain the connection between the samurai doll and the death of the dogs. How could the doll be the cause of the dogs’ deaths?

Here’s my theory. A spirit of a Japanese samurai warrior saw the samurai doll, got attracted to it, and entered the doll. So the doll was animated by his spirit and followed it to the Philippines.

When the doll went out of the house, the dogs saw the spirit of the samurai warrior (for dogs can see the presence of spirits). They attacked him, and he defended himself with a stroke of his very sharp sword.
