PSA: The ‘Fleabag’ play is coming to PH’s cinema screens - SCOUT

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Raise your hand if the quote “I love you. It will pass” from the “Fleabag” finale has made its way to your TLs in different variations—from playlists to memes to the actual stills. That’s just one of the many personal attack-like lines and scenes from the fourth wall-breaking comedy series. Aside from that, many have already become fixated on the story as a one-woman play, its original form

While it’s not easy to fly overseas to catch this theater show live, here’s something for the Filipino Phoebe Waller-Bridge fans: “Fleabag” is on the way to the Philippine cinema screens. The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) has joined forces with Ayala Malls Cinemas and National Theatre Live, which gives the international audience the chance to witness British theater. The first phase of this collaboration called CCP National Theatre Live will screen various stages, from classics to fan favorites, starting this month to May 2024 at a mall in Makati.

Aside from “Fleabag,” included in the roster of productions are “Life of Pi,” “The Seagull,” “Frankenstein,” “Much Ado About Nothing,” “The Crucible,” “Othello,” “King Lear,” and “Hamlet.”

Each screening is priced at P250, except for students who can grab a ticket at P150.

“Don’t miss out on the chance to witness the best of London theatre on screen!” says the CCP Film, Broadcast and New Media on Facebook. Well, if it means embracing vulnerability and exploring self-acceptance, all while being unhinged like Fleabag, then sign us up.
