This chef can teach you how to prepare meals fit for Ramadan | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Ramadan is an important season for Muslims all over the world, and part of the practices for this include fasting from dawn to sunset. However, it’s still important to eat for those who are exempted (like pregnant women, children and the elderly) as well as during times when meals are permitted, like before dawn for suhoor and after sunset for iftar.

Suhoor and iftar meals often contain fresh fruit, vegetables, halal meats, breads, cheeses and sweets, and since these are the only two mealtimes allowed for the day, it is important that they are filled with nutrients and can provide you energy for a long time.

Through live cooking sessions with Asia Food Network (AFN) on Facebook, Malaysian chef Ili Sulaiman will be sharing recipes for easy dishes that are suitable for Ramadan.

During the live sessions, four Ramadan recipes will be prepared by the host of “Home Cooked: Malaysia” and “Family Feast with Ili”, who is also known for writing the cookbook “For the Love of Food”.

Prior to the broadcast, AFN will also be sharing the ingredient list for the dishes through their official website so that viewers can prepare it beforehand and follow along with Chef Ili in real-time.

Last Apr. 21, the cooking session kicked off with an hour-long tutorial on serving the sambal tempeh, kacang and ikan bills.

The next broadcasts will be on Apr. 28 and May 5 and 12 on AFN’s Facebook page at 7 p.m.
