A new world record for rope skipping was set when a team of three Chinese pupils achieved 129 rope skips in just 30 seconds.
The feat was accomplished during the 2017 Double Dutch Contest World held in Hong Kong on Aug. 12. According to the DDCW official website, the three-boy-team from China was called Lightning Boys.
These three boys from Shanghai certainly lived up to their team name when they smashed the Japanese record of 111 skips in 30 seconds.
A short video special by New China TV revealed that the team had been practicing for five years, starting from the time they entered primary school.
The headmaster of Shanghai Gaojing Science and Technology Experimental Primary School, Zhi Qiao, said the team practiced from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. They also added weekend practice when preparing for contests.
The Lightning Boys participated in the speed division of the contest where they took first place. JB
