Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant said he still could not believe DeMarcus Cousins ended up signing with an already-stacked Warriors team.

The star-studded Dubs inked a one-year $5.3 million contract with the prolific scorer—who reportedly did not receive any offers from the 29 other teams—a day after LeBron James announced his decision to be a Laker.

“I don’t see how everybody let him fall to us but I guess we ruined it,” Durant jokingly said during his press conference at Whitespace Manila in Makati yesterday.

Before signing with the Warriors, Durant and Cousins made it clear to everyone that they’re not each other’s biggest fans.

During the Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans regular season game last December, the two stars got tossed out in the 1:41 mark of the final period after being involved in a scuffle. Right after the buzzer sounded, an infuriated Cousins even attempted to storm the Warriors’ locker room that prompted security officials to stop and calm him down.

“Last year was just the same, it was just repetitive over and over again and we needed an injection of energy and I think DeMarcus is going to provide that for us”

But tables seemed to have turned quickly in the off-season as the two-time champion admitted his excitement to play with the temperamental big man.

“Around July 2, things kind of changed for us, but adding somebody like DeMarcus to our team, whom I’m very excited about working with, I think it’s going to be a fun year for us, a new season for us,” Durant said.

With the addition of a unicorn like Cousins, Durant is glad and confident the four-time All-Star can provide additional energy to the Warriors despite dominating the league with ease and winning back-to-back titles.

“Last year was just the same, it was just repetitive over and over again and we needed an injection of energy and I think DeMarcus is going to provide that for us,” Durant said.

Cousins is expected to sit out the first few regular season games of the Warriors as the staff aims Boogie to be 100 percent healthy come the playoffs as they brace themselves for well-prepared squads looking to take them down.
