After nabbing a Grand Slam title with teammate Proska Nugroho at the 2020 Australian Open juniors doubles tournament last week, Alex Eala climbed to a career-best number four in the juniors circuit earlier today.

Eala, who became the first Filipino to win a Grand Slam title since 2009, was ninth before the start of the Australian Open. Despite her third round exit in the singles tournament, the 14-year-old earned a total of 1,718.75 points thanks to her outstanding performance in the doubles tournament.

Now that Eala is in the upper echelons of the world juniors circuit, the young tennis star will have more opportunities to earn direct entries at high-level women’s tournaments.
