Well-being, according to Gary Zukav in “The Seat of the Soul,” is the harmony of one’s awareness of the self in relation to other people and the environment. The objective, in the end, is true harmony. But let’s begin with awareness.

It’s been said before and it bears repeating: The two most powerful forces on Earth are love and fear.

When you fear that love is distant from your life, it simply means you are threatened by your self-imposed perception of inadequacy. The instant you experience pain in your chest, perhaps due to the loss of a loved one or a relationship gone wrong, the region of your heart is affected. When unexpected pain hits you—there is always a reason behind it—more often than not, it is emotional.

Thus, there seems to be more reasons for a heart attack than just cholesterol and conditions of the physical body. Most likely, the underlying cause is emotional distress.

When you grieve irrationally, are enraged or resentful, each time you succumb to this debilitating feeling, you lose power. Listen to your pain—is it telling you something? If your heart or chest area is heavy, apart from seeing your doctor, try these remedies:

1. Change or improve your lifestyle.

Inability to work
