I don’t think I’d ever wished so hard for the ability to master a foreign language in five seconds flat. A few inches away from me, Super Junior hunk and newest Bench endorser Choi Siwon was holding my phone recorder close to his mouth, talking loudly in rapid-fire Korean while his handlers doubled over in laughter.
Two idols, 25,000 screaming fans. We’re surprised Trinoma’s roof hasn’t been blown sky-high after the deafening clamor they’d raised during the press launch/fan event last Aug. 15. The crowd erupted into shrieks every time Siwon and Donghae moved; a smile here, a wave there, and everyone went ballistic. That pretty much meant the fans were screaming nonstop for a good 30 minutes or so.
If you are going to Boracay and have time to spare—when the monsoon is no longer dumping tons of rain all over the archipelago, of course—you may want to consider taking a not-so-slow boat (ship, actually) and begin the “rest” part of your much-needed R&R (rest and relaxation) even before you get to the popular holiday destination.
Riding the Bangkok Skytrain, I had seen it on many occasions: a lovely structure with delicately decorated awnings, obviously from a different age. I would eventually find out that it housed a well-known institution—the Blue Elephant Cooking School.
Most of the stories I’ve heard about Japan were about Tokyo and Osaka, which my dad frequents. But, as part of Delta Airlines’ familiarization tour of Nagoya and the prefectures of central Japan, I was able to experience the quainter side of Japan, replete with verdant greens as far as the eye could see, and beautifully preserved alongside the wide, concrete highways and swift trains.

CALL them beckies with hearts of gold. Last Monday, they went to Prive decked out in gorgeous gowns for Shahani Gania’s The Evening Gown Competition 2012: The Drag Queen Charity Ball. Martin Bautista and Redd Paule won Miss Best In Evening Gown while Jigs Mayuga was crowned Frist Princess. The event was able to raise P50,000 for calamity victims. No doubt about it—these queens are beautiful inside and out.
