Having seen a good part of the world, I decided that it was time to dig once more into my bucket list and bring some of my more drastic dreams to fruition.
The dying dog, Jack Miller, only had “riding a police car” in his bucket list, but the officers made him experience more.
Time is running out. Like in the song, “it’s now or never.” With friends dropping dead one after the other, the thought occurred to me, I might be next. The will and the living will are already in the right hands. It’s always best to get “pending” stuff like those out of the way.
Birthdays always make me think of bucket lists. This is the final year of my fourth decade in life, and the big idea is to come up with a list of 50 things to do before I hit 50.
An interesting article was e-mailed to me some nights ago. The title was “The Ice Cream Cone.” It was the last thing I needed to read, since I love ice cream too much anyway, but it did remind me about the things that are still left to be done. Time grows short. The sun is setting.
What’s on your bucket list? Camino de Santiago de Compostela was not originally on my bucket list, but after completing the pilgrimage earlier this year, it’s an item I would heartily suggest that you add to yours.
As I sit down to write this piece, I am tempted to ignore the significance of tomorrow’s date. As huge a milestone as people tell me it is, my gut is not at ease. People may think I want attention. Oh well. It is what it is!
