When you think of cleansing oils and BB base, prestigious Japanese, Korean and European brands with price tags running in the thousands of pesos come to mind.

But Watsons is changing all that by exclusively carrying these same products in various brands and price tags, ranging from the low hundreds to the high thousands, to suit everyone’s personal preference and budget.

Unlike your mom or grandmother’s traditional thick cream makeup removers, the products do not require a follow-up foaming cleanser and astringent to prevent the thick sticky concoction from clogging your pores and causing breakouts.

Makeup removers

The moment we start wearing sun block or makeup on a daily basis is the right time to switch from a cleanser that simply removes dirt and oil to one that thoroughly lifts long-wearing sun block and cosmetics, to save time and money.

The cleanser washes off the dirt, without leaving the skin feeling tight or dry. It leaves skin clean, lightly exfoliated, soft and moisturized.

Following up with a foaming cleanser is optional, unless you have very oily skin.

Dove Foaming Make-up Remover (P359) is cleansing oil that transforms into a light foaming mousse the moment it passes through the dispenser pump. The suds lift off waterproof mascara without stinging the eyes. Those with combination to dry skin can go straight to toners and treatments.

Watsons’ exclusive skincare, bath and body brand—Pure Beauty—has launched three very affordable but effective and thorough makeup removers to cover all skin types. They are Korean-made and dermatologist-tested, containing essential oils and ingredients that soothe skin, guard against bacteria.

1. Cleansing Water is an alcohol-free, gentle formula for sensitive skin, which contains essential oils to soothe irritation and seal in moisture. It removes light makeup and sheer sun block. For heavier and longer-lasting cosmetics, use the Cleansing Oil instead.

2. Cleansing Oil is formulated for normal to dry skin but is also recommended for those who have heavy or long-lasting makeup. Perfect for removing every trace of waterproof sun block, mascara and foundation, but must be applied on dry skin with dry hands to effectively grab everything that does not belong to clean skin. When you have covered every area to be cleansed, that is the only time you splash on the water to let oil emulsify and come off you taking all the impurities with it. This becomes my cleanser, light exfoliant and moisturizer in one on nights when I am too tired to launch into a full-on skincare regimen.

3. Cleansing Liquid is a non-greasy, cool, gel-type treatment for the oily and acne-prone. May be applied wet or dry to cleanse skin thoroughly and mop up excess oil and bacteria. It effectively removes sun block and even long-lasting makeup, except waterproof mascara and eyeliner.
