True to its mission to let everyone experience a taste of Japan, one of the country’s leading Japanese restaurant chains Tokyo Tokyo is making a twist on a Filipino favorite—the fried chicken.
Tokyo Tokyo is once again shaking up the casual-dining scene by introducing its newest product, the Umami Fried Chicken.
“Even if fried chicken is not inherently Japanese, we made sure that the flavors and marination of the fried chicken itself are very Japanese,” asserts Tokyo Tokyo marketing director Ghena Austero. “We also guarantee that those who sample the new product will really miss it afterward.”
After extensive research all over Japan to derive inspiration, Tokyo Tokyo came up with a rich and flavorful version of the much-loved fried chicken, the Umami Fried Chicken – made with three key ingredients – pepper, garlic, and ginger, which exude the umami flavor. Paired with delicious shiitake mushroom gravy with real mushroom bits and steaming rice, the dish will keep you craving for more.
“We wanted to introduce something that is very familiar and loved by the Filipinos so that when they see Tokyo Tokyo but are still unfamiliar with it, they will still find something they are already very familiar with, which is the fried chicken. We just made sure that it has a Japanese twist to it that is true to our DNA as a Japanese restaurant,” Austero enthuses.
Umami, contrary to public perception, is not monosodium glutamate, or MSG. “There is a natural umami flavor in most of the food that we have such as anchovies, mushrooms, and cheeses,” she explains.
Austero assures that there will be no shortage of chicken: “We have a very robust supply management system that guarantees we would have the supplies always available, especially now that we launched the new product. We prepared for any circumstances ahead of time.”
Tokyo Tokyo is once again changing the game and taking a huge step in fast casual dining by giving you a tastier experience on your favorite fried chicken that will keep you coming back for more. Savor in this new offering and be the first to try this new talk of the town.
The Umami Fried Chicken is “something different from a familiar favorite,” but made crispier, juicier and more flavorful. It is available through solo plates, bento meals, as well as platters at all Tokyo Tokyo stores in Luzon only.
