Being an editor means that I meet many public personas in the hope of finding that genuinely personal story. No matter how big their billboards are, no matter how many movies they make and so, it’s my job to talk about their candid side.
I got that unique opportunity with Piolo and Iñigo Pascual just after they got their Belo Medical treatments for entertainment’s big night. Yes, these two get facials together like their best friends rather than father and son. (Tip: Like Piolo and Iñigo, score exclusive promos with Belo for duos, couples, and best friends!) The way they talk to each other and how they draw in the people around them with their energy makes you feel their part of your group instantly.
When they immediately said yes to an impromptu “Conversations with…”, we just turned the cameras on. They were so ready to share a part of their afternoon with us. It came very naturally to them: the anecdotes, the jokes, the honesty. If not for their schedule, the pressure of getting dressed, and just the normal flow of life, I think we could have stayed there for a few hours.
I learned a lot from Piolo and Iñigo. I learned one of the biggest celebrities in the Philippines still acts like it’s his first day on the job: excited and eager. No wonder he’s still one of the hottest stars and very much in demand when it comes to endorsements. I observed how Iñigo, young as he may be, commands respect by using what his dad has taught him about the industry. He’s undoubtedly going to have a career for a long time or at least a good one that will be referred to often by those who want to make it far in showbiz.
