As someone who cooks at home almost every day, I am delighted every time a supermarket opens in town. It means more food sources, new discoveries, and the possibility of trying untested recipes.
For those who still haven’t ironed out their holiday merrymaking plans, Alfred at Makati Diamond Residences is bringing back its popular Champagne & Tapas Buffet for two weeks only, Dec. 4-8 and Dec. 11-15.
Somebody once said that Filipino food is too focused on pork: adobo, menudo, barbecue, estofado and, of course, the ultimate pork dish: lechon.

Casino Español de Cebu held its traditional costume ball on New Year’s Eve with the usual merrymaking. Many guests came early to hear the anticipated Mass celebrated by Msgr. Achilles Dakay, media liaison officer of the Cebu Archdiocese.
Dia De La Hispanidad was celebrated with the usual fanfare by Casino Español de Cebu with a well-attended formal ball. Upon arrival, guests were led to Salon Granada for cocktails and Spanish specialties such as Queso Manchego, Jamon Serrano, Tortilla de Patatas, and special chorizo made by Ipar Miranda.
Amigos de España recently held a most lively meeting at Salon Barcelona of Casino Español de Cebu. La presidenta Amparito Llamas Lhuillier, ever the fashion plate, gave the opening remarks.
