Do you often feel that there is something more in you just waiting to be expressed, like a caged lion that wants to break out? Perhaps, there is still an undiscovered and untapped fire in you which needs release. This fire is your passion—and you have it in you.
Mornings are crucial moments, when these fleeting but frequent thoughts visit you. Most people get out of bed and go through the entire routine. Their lives are lived by rote in a semirobotic way—it’s called the daily grind. You reach a level of exasperation over the sameness of it all; uninspired must-dos rule the day. The job simply has to be done. It is non-negotiable. But hold on a minute, life is negotiable because you can bargain with your best self.
What if, instead of just writing out your New Year’s resolutions, you just launch a search for the passion in you? James Redfield, author of the best-seller “The Celestine Prophecy” and “The Tenth Insight Holding the Vision,” explains that there are two distinct situations: waking up and actually living your life.
Here are some vital guidelines:
1) Knowledge. It is easy to learn something new if there is interest on your part. Using this same knowledge and making it work for you is the challenge.
2) Keeping still. The direct path to tapping your inner inspiration is to be quiet and practice the art of meditating. Some people pray, then go through a moment of contemplation. Others meditate the Eastern way by focusing on breathing and embracing stillness. It is only when you are alone with yourself that inspiration is awakened.
3) Synchronicity. Every situation comes with messages. There are no coincidences. Be sensitive to the messages that synchronicity presents to you. These times are all too familiar, like when you say to someone, “I was just thinking about you” or “What a coincidence.” Do not discount what Redfield calls “meaningful coincidences,” and the whole point of these encounters is to simply get the message being given to you.
4) Pay attention. In the traffic of life you will meet people everywhere—at the mall, the elevator, the hallway, a restaurant or even crossing the street. It could even be a mis-sent text. When these situations happen, they present opportunities, so seize the moment—“carpe diem.”
5) Attitude of giving. To empower yourself, give time, resources, attention and love whenever you can to those in need. It creates positive karma in your life. When you adopt a giving attitude, you are completely aligned with the forces of good. And this goodness is limitless.
6) Pursue your passion. Yes, there is so much more of you that is untapped, undeveloped, undiscovered. What are you waiting for?
