How to handle the JaDine breakup blues | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

In these trying times, it is imperative to remember that there is always hope. After weeks of speculation, James Reid and Nadine Lustre have confirmed their breakup.

The heart-shattering news came in the form of a joint statement via the Bible of all things relevant in showbusiness, Tonight with Boy Abunda.

It’s hasn’t been a full day since the announcement but the meltdown is too much to handle. How could the world be so cruel: It gives us a glorious Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston SAG Awards encounter and does this to us on the same day? This is the type of twist worthy of a Mexican soap opera season-ender.

JaDine’s celebrity status makes them the main characters in our parasocial relationships. Their triumphs are ours too. And so we feel their breakup as if it was our own. If not worst.

See, every showbiz couple that arrives in Splitsville makes us feel a little helpless. If a reality TV star turned music producer and a child star turned blockbuster queen lose love, what chances do we mere mortals have left?

Forgive the melodrama.

Maybe you’re binging on ice cream right now. Maybe you’re calming yourself down with episodes of Friends. Maybe you’re scrolling through TikTok mindlessly, stopping at no posts but still going through it frantically to fill the void.

Maybe you’re putting together a “How to get over a celebrity breakup” list to face reality (and to meet your story quota for the day.)

Go on, cope, and deal with it. But don’t forget that this too shall pass. In the meantime, try to distract yourself with a few interesting activities.

Get your body moving

If you’re the type who loves to take out your anger via physical exercise, this may just power up your boxing session. Don’t worry about holding back. A great love deserves at least an hour of frustrated grunts as you finish up those lunges. Tell your coach how the routine of the day should help you take off your mind the situation but also give you the endorphins to carry your through after the workout is over.

Some suggestions: Saddle Row if you’re in the Makati area. If you’re up for some Floating Yoga or Saltar, there’s Celebrity Fitness and Physique 57 in Bonifacio Global City. There’s ULTRA Lagree and The Upper Deck in Pasig. Up north, you can give Barre3 a try.

Listen to some Careless Music Manila

The best way to get over a problem is to wallow in it. Drown yourself in the beats produced by James and Nadine’s forays into music. Listen to ‘Palm Dreams‘ from start to finish to remember the good days. Sing along to “St4y Up” as many times as you want. Chill to “I Ain’t Never Seen.” Decipher the lyrics to find the key for reconciliation or simply ride through the pain. Shout out the lyrics of “IL2LU” into the wind.

Have a JaDine movie marathon

Connected to the item above, it’s not enough you reminisce via music. James and Nadine left us with many films that are perfect in this rollercoaster ride of emotions. Don’t miss out on “Never Not Love You,” a critic’s favorite by director Antoinette Jadone.

Pamper yourself

No one listens to your woes better than your dermatologist and aesthetician. Prevent those breakup breakouts with a calming and skin-nourishing facial. Maybe clear up blemishes with Angel Whitening, Venus Freeze, or a Panda Eye Brightening Treatment at SkinHouse Laser. The blue aesthetics of this clinic can calm you down and give you a mini-break you need. The trained team of medical experts can help you put on that brave (and good-looking face) as you go through this trying experience.
