How two artforms—music and the visual arts—capture the evanescent is the subject of “La Musique,” a new exhibition in Galerie Stephanie at Libis that displays works by painters Angelito Antonio and Dominic Rubio and sculptor Michael Cacnio. It will open on Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. and run till Oct. 16.

It has been a long journey for Dominic Rubio from his Fine Arts studies at the University of Sto. Tomas to his advertising work, in which at one time he became resident artist of Pearl Farm, the upscale resort in Davao del Sur, and now to his full-time painter’s life.
Dominic Rubio, known for his paintings of colonial imagery, and Michael Cacnio, famous for his ability to capture the psyche of the Filipino in his slice-of-life sculptures, partner in an exhibition on the Philippine genre motif of market vendors.
Drawing inspiration from each other’s works, painter Dominic Rubio and fashion designer Frederick Peralta last week staged a rare art exhibit-cum-fashion show at The Podium’s Atrium in Mandaluyong City. Billed as “Artes,” the joint display runs until July 4.
