HSBC hosted one of the liveliest parties of the season when its president and CEO Wick Veloso came to town for a customer appreciation event. It was a great occasion for Cebu’s crème de la crème to meet the genial Veloso. He made it a point to chat and exchange pleasantries with everyone who attended.
The Cebu Chapter of La Chaine des Rotisseurs held its anniversary gala with a Christmas theme at Salon de España of the Casino Español de Cebu. It was a dressy affair, especially for the ladies who came in long gowns, and jewelled.
The Zonta Club of Cebu I held its induction of officers at the Eugenia Hall of Parklane Hotel. Guest of honor and inducting officer was Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale who delivered an eloquent congratulatory message.
Michel Lhuillier, honorary consul of France in the Visayas, and Amparito Llamas Lhuillier hosted a grand celebration for France’s National Day at the ballroom of the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel.
Amparito Llamas Lhuillier was conferred the degree of Doctor of Humanities, honoris causa, by the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R). In the school’s 65-year history there have only been five so honored, and Amparito is the only woman.
It was an “asalto” for Michel Lhuillier on his birthday at the family-owned Gustavian restaurant in Banilad. Loving wife Amparito Llamas Lhuillier, who is the helm of the place, made sure the menu and service were special.
The Cebu Chapter of La Chaine des Rotisseurs marked its 18th anniversary with a grand gala held at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel. Presiding were Honorary Consul of France Michel Lhuillier, who heads La Chaine in the Philippines, and his wife Amparito Llamas Lhuillier, head of the Cebu chapter.
Milagring Sembrano had been gone for months, visiting her daughters in the United States. Oct. 6 came and friends thought she’d be back in Cebu to celebrate her 90th birthday. But the lights at her mansion in front of the Casino Español remained dim.
